HOLIDAY EDITION 2012

WHAT'S NEW???

So much is new and I know I'm late!  So this will be my "holiday" edition that will take us through December.

The biggest news is that I have a release date for my mystery--December 2013.  I don't have a title or series title yet, but I'm hoping I will soon.  If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, I will announce it as soon as I have it.  I'm so excited about my first Caprice DeLuca home stager mystery.  You can take a peek at what Caprice is all about at my mystery websiteShe takes in stray animals, comes from a large Italian family, likes to cook and is an experienced home stager who uses unique themes.  In the first mystery, Camelot is the theme to sell the mansion that resembles a castle. Who is murdered? Who did it? Does Caprice fall in love? Mystery with a touch of romance next December.

Also new are boxed sets for my SEARCH FOR LOVE series with continuing characters throughout all the books and my FINDING MR. RIGHT series where all my heroines are trying to find Mr. Right.  I boxed my ebooks so readers can find them more easily.

As you can see from the holiday banner above, many of my ebooks have holiday themes.  The holidays present a wealth of emotions, scents and descriptions to work with so I love doing those books.  I hope over the holidays you have a chance to read one.

I'm working on my Montana Mavericks release for October 2013.  Rust Creek Falls has been devastated by a flood and Thunder Canyon residents rally 'round to go to the small town to help.  In this book, a volunteer form Thunder Canyon, Jazzy Cates who you might remember from previous series, falls in love with a cowboy/veterinarian.  Actually they wed in a marriage of convenience while they are falling in love!

I'm also working on edits for the first book in my MOMMY CLUB series for Harlequin Special Edition.  More about that next year.  It looks as if the release date might be late summer 2013.

AROUND THE HOUSE...

The hurricane whipped up the east coast, but we were fortunate not to have any damage.  Usually we have flowers in the fall--late zinnias, marigolds and stray petunias--but the storm ended their growing season.  A few mums did survive and it's nice to see their color in the gardens.  It's leaf mulching time here and the color on the trees brightens up fall. We brought in our herb bin and the pineapple sage is blooming. So pretty to have bright color there.

We had an early Thanksgiving with friends and family so the holiday will be quiet for us.  Apple pie is always a favorite.  We had a ham dinner instead of turkey because the kids really like it.

My potting bench has transformed in to a wrapping bench.  I've already started because I like to enjoy the process.  With three kitties who would love to "help," I decided to take the process to the basement this year. I've been using the rose petals and buds I gathered this summer to make sachets for Christmas gifts.

Zoie, Ebbie and London are becoming real sisters.  Zoie and London have a run-and-play friendship when London will cooperate.  Zoie and Ebbie are still working on what kind of relationship they will have, but they spend a lot of time napping in the same room.  This time of year, all of them like to chase rainbows from my suncatchers.

Zoie discovered running water!

OCTOBER 2012

WHAT'S NEW???

I am so pleased  to announce the release of ABIGAIL AND MISTLETOE as a Samhain Retro Contemporary Romance.  It's available for pre-order now and will be on sale October 16 on Amazon, Nook, as well as at the Samhain site. I've always felt a special connection to this book for several reasons.  It's a holiday romance with all of the scents, sounds and feelings that go with that.  But also the emotional journey my heroine Abigail takes as a trauma makeup artist is a heart-tugging one.  I had a book trailer designed that will give you a taste of ABIGAIL AND MISTLETOE.

This month I will also be starting a Montana Mavericks release that will be available October 2013.  There is a flood in Rust Creek Falls, Montana.  The books in the series highlight the rebuilding of the town. I'm writing a romance about a sexy cowboy/veterinarian and a pretty volunteer who arrives in Rust Creek Falls to help the residents rebuild.  Somehow they end up in a marriage of convenience!

In time for Christmas, I'm hoping to have for sale a few boxed sets to help readers find my romances.  There are two available now--Volume 2 in my Search For Love series which includes books 4, 5 and 6 and volume 1 in my Finding Mr. Right series which includes books 1 through 4.  In Search For Love, there are continuing characters from each book.  In Finding Mr. Right, each book is a stand-alone.

I've been writing a series of blogs about rescuing Zoie.  You can read them on my blog site if you're interested in our journey.  Karen's Blog

AROUND THE HOUSE

We still have flowers blooming, even though the growing season is coming to an end.  The morning glories have multi-colored blooms.  A Moon Flower bloomed for a day and emanated a beautiful scent.  This seems to be the best growing season for the clump zinnias which are bushier and prettier than ever with the cooler temperatures at night.  Even the geraniums seem to like the cooler weather...or maybe it's all the rain we've received lately.

The cats are living together somewhat peacefully.  Zoie and London play--or rather London tolerates Zoie playing as they run up and down the steps.  London still hisses to put Zoie in her place.  Zoie and Ebbie have an unusual bond--Zoie wants to get close to Ebbie and doesn't always know how.  But they often sit and look out the window together.

I was sorry to see the peach season end.  We had a delicious local crop this year that lasted longer than usual.  We have lots of apple orchards also in our area of Pennsylvania and I will soon be making apple pies.

SPECIAL THIS MONTH!!!

For the contest this month, I'm offering the prize of a steel bangle bracelet with a heart charm as well as a copy of THE CEO'S UNEXPECTED PROPOSAL (Reunion Brides, Book 3).  Use the button on the right to enter the contest.  Please only one entry per email address.  They are sorted.  The contest ends October 31at midnight EST.  Winner will be notified by November 15 and will have to email me his or her snail mail address.  If winner does not verify by midnight November 30, a new winner will be drawn.  THE CONTEST IS OPEN TO US/CANADA WINNERS ONLY.

Good luck and have a great fall.

September 2012

WHAT'S NEW???

This has been an exciting month for me.  So I have news of all kinds!  First of all, I will be having a giveaway on Fresh Fiction for CASSIDY'S COWBOY.  Fifty lucky readers will win a coupon to download the novel from Smashwords.  The contest begins September 15.

For all those fans of country music and my romance HIS COUNTRY CINDERELLA (2011 Montana Mavericks Harlequin Special Edition), the novel is a finalist in New Jersey Romance Writers' Golden Leaf contest.

And speaking of Montana Mavericks...  I'm working on a synopsis for a new one.  The book will be released in October 2013.  My heroine Jazzy has appeared in other Montana Mavericks releases.  My hero, a veterinarian/cowboy, convinces Jazzy to wed him in a marriage of convenience.

For any of you who are interested in our rescue kitten Zoie Joy's saga, I've been writing a series of blogs about the whole process.  You can read them at:

Karen's blog about Zoie Joy

My webmistress is redesigning my front page and booklist.  I'm hoping a different type of organization will make it easier for you to follow my social media connections as well as group my books so they're easier to find.  I'd like to hear feedback from you after the new pages are launched.  I've had many compliments on my website and I wanted to keep the essential nature of the pages the same.

AROUND THE HOUSE

Zoie is growing up!

London and Ebbie are getting used to her being around.  They are out together almost all day.  At night Ebbie and London have a respite from Zoie's energy. We have some wild times most days!

We've been having lots of rain, so the gardens, especially zinnias, have been growing madly while I spend more time with Zoie than outside.  But they are beautiful in their disarray.  The roses are in their second blooming so I'm collecting petals again for sachets for Christmas.

Our area produced a beautiful peach crop this year, so I've been making peach pies.

I posted the recipe on my blog, and here's the link:

August 2012

WHAT'S NEW???

I hope you're having a great summer.  As a treat for my readers, WHEN MOM MEETS DAD will be free on Amazon Kindle from August 11 to August 15.  This modern twist on a parent-trap romance is perfect for summer.  It's a sexy romantic comedy.  It was originally as MOM MEETS DAD.  I hope it makes your summer reading more fun. Available at AMAZON

THE CEO'S UNEXPECTED PROPOSAL (Reunion Brides, Book 3) has gathered great reviews.  I've been blogging about the power of music that is evident in this book.

New on the shelves is RILEY'S BABY BOY (Reunion Brides, Book 4).  It is available in print and e-book.  This former Marine finds his high sweetheart and his baby boy on his doorstep.  A night of passion after his and Brenna's fifteen-year high school reunion gave him a son!  But they live a country apart and have feuding families to boot.  I hope you enjoy this fast-paced read about love, romance and family.

I've just completed the rough draft of the first book in my MOMMY CLUB series for Harlequin Special Edition and will be editing it during the next couple of weeks.  I really love the setting on the vineyard and I hope my readers do, too.

AROUND THE HOUSE...

The kitten we rescued is growing healthier, happier and friskier each day.  She is four pounds now and much of the time is a black streak through the house.  We're integrating her with Ebbie and London.  It's a slow process, but we're making progress. Ebbie and London are getting used to the idea of a baby sister!

Our gardens are popping with color from zinnias.

The planters are overflowing with coleus and petunias.

Our tomatoes are getting riper.  I chose many pink varieties this year along with orange, white and yellow.  We had a Marianna's Peace weigh in at over a pound!  We made our first batch of stewed tomatoes and hope to cook many more to freeze for the winter.  Anna Russian are heart-shaped tomatoes and are growing much larger this year than they did last year.  Chianti Rose has produced a beautiful large beefsteak.  Zucchini and cucumbers are still producing.  I love the fresh produce in summer.  It makes healthy eating easier.

July 2012

WHATS NEW???

A lot is new this month in my writing life.  First of all, THE CEO'S UNEXPECTED PROPOSAL (Reunion Brides, Book 3) is available now in print and in e-book.  Mikala Conti, a music therapist, helps high school classmate Dawson Barrett's son recover from trauma by using music.  There is a bit of a mystery with this romance as we uncover with Luke what happened the day he and his mom were in the accident that took her life.  His lack of memory of that day is coming between him and Dawson and making ten-year-old Luke unhappy.  Mikala helps both father and son heal, finding her own true love along the way.

On July 24, the print version of RILEY'S BABY BOY (Reunion Brides, Book 4) will be released.  E-book format will follow on August 1.  More about this hunky former Marine hero and his high school sweetheart next month.

I've finished the first book in my new Caprice De Luca home-stager mystery series and sent it to my editor.  Working title is KNIFE-EDGED.  You can read more about it and my sleuth who takes in stray animals, loves to cook and constantly tries to convince her big Italian family they don't need to run her life!  There is even a touch of romance.  My mystery novels will be about relationships and how they intertwine to complicate lives as well as about solving clues.  My editor has given me the go-ahead for the outline of book 2 tentatively titled COLOR SCHEMER.  I can't wait to delve into the next mystery.  Readers can find out more about my mysteries as well as catch live feeds from my Twitter, blog and Facebook page at http://www.karenrosesmithmysteries.com/.  Keep checking back for updates as I learn exact titles and release dates.

I'm also at work on my first THE MOMMY CLUB romance for Harlequin Special Edition.  Sara Stevens and Jase Cramer's love story takes place on a vineyard in California with a cast of characters I hope you'll enjoy in future books.

AROUND THE HOUSE...

Big news this month.  Two weeks ago, we rescued a kitten.  Zoie Joy is an absolute bundle of energy, sleepy sweetness and joy.  Life has been a balancing act between the new kitten, writing and gardening.

Our gardens are blooming profusely with the heat and humidity.  The yellow petunias are bushing out and constantly reaching for the sun.  The purple and white ones are a double ruffled bloom that's just gorgeous.  The purple changes colors with the amount of sun.  The pink phlox is blossoming, impatiens are a beautiful violet and the geraniums are about to bloom.  I'm so proud of these flowers I grew from seed and I hope the varities of zinnias do as well.  The planters around the patio with their vibrant colors give it a tropical air.  Soon tubar roses will also add their fragrance.  It's like a heady perfume.

Then there are the tomatoes!  The soaker hose is helping in this heat.  I raised about 150 heirloom plants in lots of varieties--Marianna's Peace, Great White, Big Orange, Anna Russian, Chianti Rose, St. Lucy's Beefsteak, Sister, Ghost Cherry, Brad's Black Heart, Momma's Paste.  We kept about thirty and gave the rest to friends, relatives, neighbors and even a few people driving by who were glad for the plants.  I'll let you know which varieties do the best as the season progresses.  Zucchini and cucumbers are also growing huge.

SPECIAL THIS MONTH!!!

Music is a unique aspect of THE CEO'S UNEXPECTED PROPOSAL as well as jewelry. Dawson gives Mikala a necklace to cherish.  So this month, for my lucky winner's contest gift I'm offering the prize of a fresh water and amethyst bracelet with a music note charm.  I will also include an advance copy of RILEY'S BABY BOY for the winner.

Use the button on the right to enter the contest.  Please only one entry per e-mail address.  They are sorted.  The contest ends July 31 at midnight EST.  Winner will be notified by August 15th and will have to e-mail me his/her snail mail address.  If winner does not verify by midnight August 31, a new winner will be drawn.  THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO US/CANADA WINNERS ONLY.

Good luck.
